Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the Texas Music Office (TMO), the City of Corinth, and the Corinth Economic Development Corporation will be co-hosting a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on Monday, November 6. The workshop will be held both virtually and in-person at Corinth City Hall.

In a press release, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of music to the Texas brand and local economies. He thanked the Texas Music Office for their efforts in helping communities develop creative partnerships and create new jobs. Last year, the Texas music industry contributed to over 192,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generated more than $26 billion in economic activity statewide.

Chip Adams, the TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist, will be present at the workshop to explain the Music Friendly Texas Community designation and its benefits. The workshop is the first step in the certification process for Corinth, which, upon completion, will join 50 other Texas cities with the Music Friendly Texas designation.

The Music Friendly Texas program, introduced by the TMO in 2016, aims to foster music industry development in Texas communities and attract industry professionals. The certification sends a clear message that certified communities are committed to music industry growth.

Musicians, venues, and the general public are invited to attend the workshop either in person or online. The workshop will take place at Corinth City Hall at 5:00 PM on November 6. For those who wish to join virtually, the link is provided on the TMO website.

For more information about the event, visit the Facebook page: facebook.com/events/333750135822097/. Any questions can be directed to Emma Crotty, Economic Development Coordinator & Management Assistant at the Corinth Economic Development Corporation.

The Music Friendly Texas Community program is part of the Texas Music Office's initiative to support and promote the music industry in the state. The program provides a network for communities to develop their music industry and attract industry professionals.

With the Music Friendly Texas Community workshop, Governor Abbott and the Texas Music Office are working together with local leaders to ensure that more communities in Texas have the necessary tools and support to succeed in the music industry.
