Governor Greg Abbott today celebrated Texas breaking all previous records for total jobs for two years straight following the release of September employment data. The state also again surpassed all previous records for the total number of Texans working and the total size of the Texas labor force. Texas leads the nation for jobs added over the month and over the last 12 months.

"Jobs are surging in Texas thanks to the best business climate and strongest workforce in the nation," said Governor Abbott. "Texas employers added 61,400 jobs in September across diverse industries, marking 24 months in a row that the state has surpassed all previous records for total jobs. We are America's jobs leader because Texas moves at the speed of business, cutting red tape and getting out of the way so businesses thrive, jobs grow, and Texans prosper. That is why the Texas economy is the eighth-largest economy in the world. With more Texans working than ever before, we continue to build an even bigger, bolder Texas of tomorrow."

September employment data released by the Texas Workforce Commission and the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Texas has reached new historic highs:

- Texas reaches a new historic high for total jobs at 14,049,400 as employers added 61,400 nonfarm jobs over the month.

- Texas reaches a new historic high for Texans working, including employed and self-employed, at 14,515,800.

- Texas reaches a new historic high with the largest labor force ever in the state's history at a record 15,141,300.

- Texas again added jobs at a faster rate than the nation over the last 12 months, adding 435,800 jobs from September 2022 to September 2023 and growing at an annual rate of 3.2%, well above the growth rate for the nation as a whole of 2.1%.

Texas's strong job growth can be attributed to its favorable business climate and robust workforce. The state's commitment to cutting red tape and supporting businesses has created an environment where companies can thrive and expand. As a result, Texas has become the eighth-largest economy in the world.

With the addition of 61,400 jobs in September, Texas has now broken the record for total jobs for 24 consecutive months. This achievement demonstrates the state's ability to sustain long-term job growth and economic prosperity.

Governor Abbott's dedication to creating a business-friendly environment has been instrumental in Texas's success. By removing barriers and fostering innovation, the state has attracted a diverse range of industries and provided opportunities for Texans to thrive.

As the state continues to experience record-breaking job growth, Governor Abbott envisions an even bigger and bolder Texas for the future. With more Texans working than ever before, the state is poised to build upon its economic achievements and create a prosperous future for all residents.

Texas's remarkable job growth serves as a testament to the state's commitment to supporting businesses and cultivating a strong workforce. By fostering an environment where companies can succeed and individuals can find meaningful employment, Texas has solidified its position as a leader in job creation.
