Mayor Steve Adler recently issued extended protections for Austin residents falling behind on their rent or mortgage payments due to COVID-19.

The order further halts evictions through to Sept. 30. The mandate prohibits vacating orders and forbids a property owner from removing any property of a tenant.

Additionally, the order states it is for the benefit of the public to prohibit the seizure of a tenant's non-exempt property that is subject to a lien created under Texas Property Code Section 54.041.

On July 22, Travis County Judge Sam Biscoe has likewise assigned County Judge Order No. 2020-15 regarding Notices to Vacate and Eviction Proceedings due to the COVID-19 crisis. His order also extends the prohibition of eviction processes to Sept. 30.
