Upon the committee's decision, Governor Abbott remarked, "Texas is within reach of the largest school choice program launch in the nation." He acknowledged the extensive efforts made by the committee and highlighted, "Today, the Texas House Committee on Public Education moved universal school choice one step closer to reaching my desk."
Governor Abbott attributed this progress to a collaborative effort, noting the key roles played by various officials and committee members. "This achievement was truly a team effort," he stated, specifying the hard work of Chairman Brad Buckley and the committee members who conducted nearly 24 hours of public testimony. Additionally, he recognized the contributions of Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and Chairman Brandon Creighton, emphasizing their commitment to empowering Texas parents and students.
