Rep. Chip Roy, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2019, representing Texas’ 21st district, has expressed his views through a series of tweets on April 1, 2025. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972, Roy graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin. Currently residing in Austin, he took over from Lamar Smith in the U.S. Congress.
On April 1, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy's Press Office tweeted their support for the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The tweet stated, "Pass the SAVE ACT! @liz_elkind at @FoxNews: 'The Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act by Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, is aimed at requiring proof of citizenship in the voting registration process.'" This initiative focuses on adopting measures to mandate citizenship confirmation during voter registration.
Later, on the same day, Rep. Roy addressed the issue of proxy voting in Congress through another tweet. He expressed his perspective, "Rep. Roy on unconstitutional proxy voting in Congress: 'I believe we should show up to work. I believe, like every other single American who has to physically get in their car, go get in traffic, go show up to their job, go show up to the job site, go work all day in the sun...'" indicating his viewpoint opposing proxy voting and advocating physical presence for work, similar to ordinary American citizens.
The final tweet of the day addressed concerns about judicial actions. In it, Rep. Chip Roy remarked, "We have a crisis on the bench right now. Nationwide injunctions by radical activist judges THREATEN our constitution and UNDERMINE the executive branch. Watch Rep. Roy's remarks in @JudiciaryGOP below:" He expressed his apprehension regarding the judicial system's actions, criticizing certain nationwide injunctions which he believes pose a threat to constitutional principles and the executive branch's authority.
