Governor Greg Abbott has renewed and amended a disaster proclamation initially issued on October 14, 2024. The proclamation addresses the ongoing threat posed by elevated fire weather conditions in numerous Texas counties. The Texas Division of Emergency Management confirmed that these conditions continue to pose a risk.

Governor Abbott stated, "elevated fire weather conditions pose an imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property in several counties." In response, he has declared a disaster in over 150 counties across the state.

The Governor's action is backed by Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code. He has authorized "the use of all available resources of state government and of political subdivisions that are reasonably necessary to cope with this disaster," as per Section 418.017.

Furthermore, any regulatory statute that could delay essential actions in dealing with the disaster may be suspended upon written approval from the Office of the Governor. This includes suspending statutes and rules related to contracting or procurement if they hinder emergency responses needed to protect life or property.

In compliance with statutory requirements, copies of this proclamation will be filed with relevant authorities. Governor Abbott signed the document on March 4, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

The proclamation was attested by Jane Nelson, Secretary of State.
