On February 5, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy expressed his views on fiscal policy, stating "We've got to get unanimity [on spending]. And there's a lot of Republicans who are a little slow to want to cut anything. ... I think we want to deliver border quickly. That's why I favor the two Bill approach."
Later that day, at 19:30 UTC, he criticized the current state of healthcare in America by asserting that instead of having a "free-market" system, it operates under "textbook crony capitalism” to the “detriment of the patient and providers,” as stated in a report he referenced.
In another tweet posted at 20:00 UTC on the same day, Rep. Roy addressed educational concerns by pointing out that since its inception in 1980, "The Department of Education has existed since 1980... Costs of education and salaries of career bureaucrats have gone through the roof, meanwhile test scores of students have plummeted." He suggested abolishing the Department as a solution.
