Rep. Chip Roy, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas's 21st District since 2019, recently shared a series of tweets through his press office addressing incidents involving cartel violence. These statements highlight the dangers posed by cartels to both American citizens and law enforcement.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Roy's press office reported that "On Friday, a U.S. Citizen and a friend were KILLED by an explosion after driving over a CARTEL landmine in MX." The tweet emphasizes that these "remorseless criminals DO NOT care about harming bystanders."

In another tweet on the same day, Rep. Roy recounted an incident from March 2023: "In March 2023, 4 Americans traveled to Mexico so one of them, a mother of 6, could undergo a medical procedure." The vehicle was attacked in broad daylight by Gulf Cartel members resulting in "2 dead and 2 severely injured."

Additionally, on February 3, Rep. Roy mentioned an attack involving U.S. law enforcement personnel: "Just last week, Border Patrol agents TOOK GUNFIRE from suspected cartel members on U.S. territory." This statement underscores the willingness of cartels to engage with law enforcement on American soil.
