Rep. Chip Roy Press Office shared a series of tweets on February 3, 2025, addressing concerns related to cartel activities and efforts in the U.S. Congress to combat these issues. Rep. Chip Roy represents Texas' 21st district and has been serving since 2019.

In a tweet from February 3, 2025, the press office described an incident involving the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel: "The Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel used a small airplane and several explosives drones to bomb a Mexican police station. At the same time, several pickup trucks filled with cartel gunmen fired upon law enforcement."

Another tweet posted on the same day declared "ENOUGH! The terror committed at the hands of the cartels must be stopped. Rep Roy is proud to lead the effort to designate them as FTOs for the 4th consecutive Congress It’s time to make sure that no future administration can undo this critical policy." This statement underscores Rep. Roy's commitment to designating cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).

Additionally, another post by Rep. Chip Roy's press office highlighted warnings from the U.S. embassy regarding increased cartel-related activity: "Last week, the US embassy in MX is warning of cartel-related activity “increasingly frequent gun battles” and the discovery of 'improvised explosive devices' along the southern border, linked to cartels."
