Governor Greg Abbott has instructed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to deploy tactical strike teams. This initiative is in support of the Trump Administration's efforts to locate and arrest criminal illegal immigrants within Texas.
"Texas is expanding our operations to assist President Donald Trump to protect Americans and enforce the rule of law," Governor Abbott stated. He further explained that these tactical strike teams would collaborate with federal partners to enforce immigration laws throughout the state. "These teams will coordinate with Homeland Security agencies to track down the thousands of illegal immigrants with active warrants across Texas and deport them from our country," he added.
The DPS tactical strike teams will work alongside the newly formed Homeland Security Task Force. Their mission is to utilize personnel and resources effectively, aiming to identify and apprehend approximately 5,400 illegal immigrants who have active warrants issued by local jurisdictions in Texas. The teams are composed of DPS troopers, Special Agents, and Texas Rangers, who will receive support from both the DPS Aircraft Operations Division and the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division.
Governor Abbott expressed optimism about this collaboration with President Trump after what he described as "four years of failed policies." He concluded, "Together, we will end this crisis and make America safe once again."
