During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, U.S. Senator John Cornyn questioned Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi about the potential weaponization of the Department of Justice and border security under her leadership. Cornyn expressed concerns about what he perceives as past politicization within the DOJ, stating that Bondi's testimony was reassuring to him.

Cornyn criticized the Biden administration's handling of border policies, describing it as "one of the biggest humanitarian and public safety disasters in American history." He pressed Bondi on whether she would enforce existing laws and support future executive orders to secure the southern border if confirmed.

Bondi affirmed her commitment to enforcing laws and securing the border, agreeing with Cornyn that tragedies like those involving Laken Riley could have been prevented with stricter enforcement. She pledged to work across party lines to enhance national safety if confirmed as Attorney General.
