U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn have announced the successful acquisition of a presidential permit for the Laredo 4/5 International Bridge in Webb County, Texas. This development is expected to significantly enhance trade between Texas and Mexico.

Senator Cruz emphasized his commitment to improving border infrastructure, stating, "I’ve made securing presidential permits for Texas-Mexico border bridge infrastructure projects a top priority." He noted that the new bridge would boost trade and job opportunities in Texas.

Senator Cornyn also highlighted the economic benefits, saying, "International bridges are engines to foster greater trade with Mexico and promote economic growth."

Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina expressed gratitude for this long-awaited project: “For more than 20 years, Webb County has awaited the development of an international bridge.” He added that it symbolizes progress and unity for both Webb County and Nuevo Laredo.

Glenn Hamer from the Texas Association of Business praised the bipartisan efforts behind this achievement. He remarked on its importance for enhancing trade between Texas and Mexico, calling it a significant advancement since the USMCA agreement.

Dennis Nixon from IBC Bank commented on how this project will elevate Port Laredo's status globally. Gerald Schwebel, also from IBC Bank, called it a transformative moment that solidifies Port Laredo's strategic position in North America.
