Governor Greg Abbott has amended and renewed a disaster proclamation initially issued on July 8, 2022, due to exceptional drought conditions in several Texas counties. The proclamation, confirmed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, acknowledges that these drought conditions persist in many counties across the state, excluding Bexar County.
In accordance with Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott declared a disaster in Bandera, Bee, Blanco, Burnet, Calhoun, Cameron, Colorado, Comal, Comanche, Culberson, Edwards, El Paso, Hays, Hidalgo, Hudspeth, Irion, Jeff Davis, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney Lavaca Llano Lubbock Matagorda Maverick Medina Presidio Real Terrell Tom Green Travis Uvalde Val Verde Victoria Wharton Willacy Williamson Wilson and Zavala Counties.
Under Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code Governor Abbott authorized the use of all available resources from state government and political subdivisions necessary to manage this disaster. Additionally pursuant to Section 418.016 any regulatory statute or rule hindering necessary actions for coping with this disaster will be suspended upon written approval from the Office of the Governor.
The enforcement of any state statute or administrative rule related to contracting or procurement that impedes emergency response efforts essential for protecting life or property during this declared disaster will also be suspended for its duration.
Copies of this proclamation have been filed with relevant authorities as required by statutory provisions.
