Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the City of Forney in Texas has been designated as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Film Commission. This designation recognizes the city's completion of the multi-step training and certification process.

In a press release, Governor Abbott congratulated the City of Forney on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and welcomed them to the more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition. He expressed his commitment to working alongside all communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed.

Through the Film Friendly Texas training and certification process, communities are prepared to help match local businesses with production-related needs, creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as spurring on-site spending at local businesses. Governor Abbott thanked the Texas Film Commission for their efforts in helping communities like Forney market their unique appeal and support local job creation through media production.

City Manager Charles Daniels expressed gratitude to the Texas Film Commission for designating Forney as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community. He acknowledged the recognition as an excellent opportunity to introduce the community to a broader audience and looked forward to the opportunities this designation would bring.

The City of Forney now joins more than 175 other Film Friendly Texas Certified Communities across the state. These communities receive ongoing training and guidance from the Texas Film Commission on media industry standards, best practices, and how to effectively accommodate on-location filming activity.

For more than 50 years, the Texas Film Commission has played a crucial role in promoting Texas as the premier destination for film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video game, and extended reality production. It has attracted over $2 billion in local spending and created more than 183,000 production jobs across the state from 2007 to 2023.
