City Hosts Small Business Fundamentals Week to Empower Entrepreneurs

The City of Austin Economic Development Department is thrilled to host the 2024 Small Business Fundamentals Week taking place from January 22-26. This week-long initiative offers business owners an invaluable opportunity to participate in no-cost classes, providing specialized training in essential areas such as marketing, bookkeeping, and other foundational topics. Elevate your skills and kickstart the new year with our comprehensive fundamentals week classes.  

“As we continue to support our Austin small business community in 2024, I am excited to witness the transformative impact of empowering entrepreneurs through specialized training in fundamental business topics, fostering growth, and contributing to the economic vibrancy of our community,” shares Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, Director of the Economic Development Department.   

The 2024 Small Business Fundamentals Week classes will be conducted in person at our facility's training room located at 5202 East Ben White Boulevard, Suite 300. Upon registration, individuals will be added to a waiting list if classes reach full capacity.

  • January 23: Write a Business Plan You’ll Actually Use
  • January 23: BizAid Business Orientation 
  • January 24: Basic Bookkeeping for Small Business
  • January 24: The Basics of Human Resources
  • January 25: Marketing 101: Establishing Your Brand
  • January 26: Explore Funding Options for Your Small Business
  • January 26: Create Your Marketing Plan & Content Calendar 
The Economic Development Department’s Small Business Division is committed to offering a diverse portfolio of business training, educational events, and coaching to empower entrepreneurs. Our mission is to foster job creation and support the growth of new and existing businesses by providing capacity-building information, tools, and resources.
