Governor Abbott Appoints Five To Texas Board Of Architectural Examiners

Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments and reappointments to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. Eva Read-Warden, Rosa Salazar, and Joyce Smith have been appointed, while Michael A. Ebbeler, Jr. and Justin Hiles have been newly appointed. The terms for the appointments will expire on January 31, 2029, and January 31, 2027, respectively.

The Texas Board of Architectural Examiners is responsible for overseeing the examination, registration, and professional regulation of architects, interior designers, and landscape architects. The board plays a crucial role in ensuring the competence and professionalism of these professions.

Eva Read-Warden, a principal architect for Arkitex Studio Inc., has been appointed to the board. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Texas Society of Architects. Read-Warden also has a strong commitment to her community, having served as the president of the American Institute of Architects Brazos Valley Chapter and the Texas Society of Architects.

Rosa Salazar, the director of interior design with Condray Design Group Inc., has been reappointed to the board. She brings with her a wealth of experience and leadership positions in the industry, including serving as vice chair for the board. Salazar has been involved with various professional organizations and has contributed to the development of interior design programs.

Joyce Smith, a retired partner of the accounting firm Atchley & Associates, LLP, has also been reappointed to the board. With her background in accounting, Smith brings valuable financial expertise to the board. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Joining the board as newly appointed members are Michael A. Ebbeler, Jr. and Justin Hiles. Ebbeler is the president of MAEJr Resources and an officer at Echelon Natural Resources, LLC. He has previously served on the Rehabilitation Council of Texas and the steering committee for the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation. Ebbeler holds undergraduate degrees in government and economics from The University of Texas at Austin and St. Edwards University.

Justin Hiles, the COO of VLK Architects, brings his expertise in architecture to the board. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards. Hiles has also been involved in community service, volunteering for organizations such as the American Red Cross.

Governor Abbott's appointments to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners reflect a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of competence and professionalism in the field of architecture.
