Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the City of Atlanta, Texas, has been designated as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Film Commission. This designation means that Atlanta has completed the training and certification process and is now prepared to support and accommodate on-location filming activity in their community.

Governor Abbott congratulated the City of Atlanta on earning this recognition, stating, "Texas is brimming with promise, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside all of our communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed." He highlighted the importance of the Film Friendly Texas program in creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as driving on-site spending at local businesses.

City Manager Danica Porter expressed her excitement about the certification, stating, "This will give us the opportunity to showcase our small town and the wonderful history of Atlanta. It will also have a huge economic impact on our community." She emphasized the potential for increased tourism and business activity in Atlanta as a result of attracting media production companies.

The City of Atlanta now joins more than 175 Film Friendly Texas Certified Communities across the state. These communities receive ongoing training and guidance from the Texas Film Commission on industry standards and best practices for accommodating film and media production. The Texas Film Commission, part of the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Tourism, has played a crucial role in promoting Texas as a premier destination for various types of production, including film, television, commercials, animation, and video games. Over the years, the commission has attracted more than $2 billion in local spending and created over 183,000 production jobs in Texas.
