Governor Greg Abbott has announced a significant investment in job training in Texas. The governor revealed that the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded a Skills Development Fund (SDF) grant of $1,009,383 to Dallas College. This grant, in partnership with Mint Dentistry, Kpost Company, Kpost Roofing, On-Target Supplies and Logistics, and The Richards Group, will provide customized training to over 600 workers in various fields.

Speaking about the grant, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of investing in the workforce to support the state's thriving industries. He said, "Texas is proud to invest in our growing, diverse workforce to ensure critical industries in our state's world-class economy continue to thrive. This job training grant will help equip North Texans with the skills they need to excel in high-demand careers and ensure our vital industries have the support they need to succeed."

TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel also highlighted the significance of the Skills Development Fund in upskilling the workforce and preparing them for the growing Texas economy. He stated, "The Skills Development Fund connects colleges and employers to build a highly trained workforce by providing resources directly where they're needed. Today's award is another great example of employers who are committed to upskilling their workers to prepare for the growing Texas economy."

To mark the occasion, Chairman Bryan Daniel presented the award to representatives from Dallas College and the participating businesses at a ceremony held at the Dallas College Garland Center.

The Skills Development Fund is a program that helps businesses in Texas train their workforce. In collaboration with public community and technical colleges, workforce development boards, and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, TWC provides customized and innovative training to businesses of all sizes. Since its inception in 1996, the SDF grant program has supported the creation of over 420,000 jobs in Texas through partnerships with at least 4,800 employers.

This investment in job training reflects the commitment of the Texas government to support the growth of industries and ensure a skilled workforce. By providing customized training to workers, the state aims to meet the demands of high-demand careers and strengthen the economy.

Overall, the Skills Development Fund grant awarded to Dallas College is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the government, educational institutions, and businesses to invest in the future of the Texas workforce.
