Governor Abbott Announces Governor’s Small Business Summit In San Angelo

Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the next 2023 Governor’s Small Business Summit will be held in San Angelo on Thursday, October 19. The summit aims to provide resources and information to help Texas small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs start, strengthen, and grow their businesses.

In a press release, Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude to small business owners across the state, stating, "Thanks to the many small business owners across the state who contribute so much to their communities, the Texas economy and workforce continue to be the envy of the nation." He further added, "We are proud to invest in current and aspiring entrepreneurs in San Angelo through my Small Business Summit to help ensure hardworking Texans have the tools needed to launch or grow their business. As we continue to create more opportunities for growth for small business owners across Texas, we will build an even brighter economic future for our entire state."

The Governor’s Small Business Summit – San Angelo will provide attendees with key insights on critical business topics and the opportunity to network with other business owners and experts. The event will be co-hosted by the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Office, Angelo State University Small Business Development Center, and the Texas Workforce Commission.

The summit will feature panel discussions on various topics, including addressing small business challenges, small business accounting essentials, access to finance and funding, and online and social media marketing essentials.

The event will take place on October 19, 2023, at the McNease Convention Center in San Angelo. Registration for the summit is $20, which includes access to all sessions, resource providers, and complimentary headshots. In addition to the San Angelo summit, two more Governor’s Small Business Summits are scheduled for 2023. The one in San Antonio will take place on November 9, and the Houston summit will be held on December 7.

For those unable to attend the summits, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism and Office of Small Business Assistance offer the Governor’s Small Business Resource Portal, which provides on-demand and customized business resources at gov.texas.gov/business/page/small-business-portal.

With the Governor’s Small Business Summit series, Governor Abbott aims to empower small business owners in Texas and contribute to the state's economic growth.
