The City of Austin Economic Development Department has a grant for workers in the creative arts profession who have been financially struck by the COVID-19 crisis.

Coined the "Austin Creative Worker Relief Grant," the funding is $3.5 million which will provide $2,000 grants to help Austin’s creative sector workers. Officials say the grant will help with expenses like rent, utility bills, and food.

Those who work in the arts, music, film, fashion, museums, preservation, etc. as practicing artists and associated personnel are included in the definition of a creative worker.

“Austin’s creative community, which significantly contributes to the fabric of the City’s cultural and economic ecosystem, is facing unprecedented hardships due to COVID-19," Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, acting director for the City of Austin Economic Development Department, said. “This program will ensure individuals will receive some level of financial support.”
