The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission suspended the permits of four Austin establishments after undercover operations determined the business failed to following protocols to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Soho Lounge; UnBARlievable; Buford's Backyard Beer Garden; and Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot Icehouse were among the 17 Texas bars the TABC alleges to have not complied with the state’s 50% capacity mandate and orders to practice social distancing.

TABC Chairman Kevin J. Lilly said violations comprise a very small number of the 3,500 licensed businesses inspected by the commission since early May. Lilly said the TABC is grateful for the large majority of business owners who show their commitment to keeping customers and employees safe.

TABC Executive Director Bentley Nettles said that the commission highly prioritizes the health and safety of Texans during this pandemic.

The 17 businesses have had their permits suspended for 30 days, per a TABC order.
