Austin residents can now take a test for COVID-19 at home, according to reports from KVUE.

While the coronavirus pandemic continues, and testing is in high demand, Everlywell announced the development of a COVID-19 at-home testing kit. It's the first company in the U.S. to offer the capability of testing at home.

To start with, 30,000 tests are accessible, but Everlywell has the potential to serve 250,000 people a week. According to the company's website, front-line health care workers will have priority.

Residents who are experiencing coronavirus-related symptoms can request the test online. They’ll be required to undergo a screening under standards outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Once approved, the client will take a sample, send it to an official testing center, and access the results online within 48 hours after the lab receives it.

If tested positive, the customer can receive telehealth consultations with a doctor at no additional cost.
