The CMS gave Trinity Care Center an overall rating of 1 out of 5, lower than the Texas nursing home average of 2.7.

The Wesleyan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation|San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center ranked as the second largest nursing homes in the county, with 142 beds available in the same quarter.

According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the U.S. population over age 65 continues to rise as younger age groups decrease. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and older increased by 13%, while those under 18 dropped by 1.7%. Over the past 100 years, the older adult population has expanded significantly, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 analysis finds that nearly half of Americans age 65 and up — about 28 million — are likely to need long-term services and support. It also projects that more than a third may require nursing home care at some point.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
