Texas women’s golf is being led this season by three standout players, each bringing a unique approach to leadership, according to a March 11 article in The Daily Texan. Juniors Farah O’Keefe and Lauren Kim, along with senior Cindy Hsu, are preparing to compete at the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April while also focusing on guiding their team.
The importance of strong leadership is highlighted as the trio works together to shape the team’s culture. Head coach Laura Ianello said these three athletes “make for an awesome crew,” emphasizing how their different personalities contribute to the group dynamic.
O’Keefe is described as energetic and community-oriented. Ianello said, “(O’Keefe) has an energy unlike any other player on our team. She is always laughing, always in a good mood, always trying to help others.” While O’Keefe brings enthusiasm, Kim provides structure and discipline. Kim said, “I’m one of those players (who gets) confidence from the amount of work that I put into my craft.” O’Keefe added about Kim’s focus on practice: “On the golf course, she’s just ruthless… when you’re around Lauren, you want to work harder.”
Hsu offers experience and quiet guidance as the only senior among them. She said, “When it comes to preparation, I’m very open to share… I lead … and respect at the same time.” Despite English not being her first language, Hsu contributes advice and support during competitions.
Ianello summarized the team’s values by saying: “(The standard is) focus, integrity, grit, heart and team. That’s what we’re about.” The article concludes that these three leaders set one standard for Texas women’s golf through their distinct approaches.
