Governor Greg Abbott has announced that Texas leads the nation in job creation, adding more new jobs over the past month and year than any other state. Since Abbott assumed office in January 2015, Texas has reportedly added over 2.5 million jobs.
“Texas is the No. 1 state in the nation for job creation because Texas moves at the speed of business,” Governor Abbott stated. He highlighted that this success is why “Texas continues to attract more corporate relocations and business expansions than any other state.”
Abbott also mentioned recent legislation aimed at providing certainty to business decision-makers by ensuring their judgments are not questioned by courts. This builds on previous legislation concerning specialty business courts. He emphasized ongoing investments in job training for high-demand industries, asserting that Texas will remain a leading state for business and job creation.
According to April employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:
– Texas led in nonfarm job additions in April with 37,700 new positions.
– From April 2024 to April 2025, Texas added 215,500 nonfarm jobs.
– Since January 2015, under Governor Abbott’s leadership, Texas gained a total of 2,515,200 nonfarm jobs.
Governor Abbott recently celebrated these achievements based on employment data from the Texas Workforce Commission. He also signed three pieces of pro-growth legislation intended to enhance Texas’ capital market environment and solidify its status as a prime location for businesses.
