Texas Softball will conclude its regular season with a three-game series against Arkansas, beginning April 30 at McCombs Field. The opening game is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. Central Time on SEC Network, followed by games on Friday and Saturday broadcasted on SEC Network+.
The matchup carries significance as both teams are ranked in the top ten nationally, with Texas at No. 5 and Arkansas at No. 7. Texas will honor seven seniors—Kaydee Bennett, Ashton Maloney, Victoria Hunter, Reese Atwood, Leighann Goode, Kaiah Altmeyer and Citlaly Gutierrez—before Saturday’s game.
According to the university’s announcement, Texas currently holds the No. 3 spot in both RPI and strength of schedule rankings and has recorded a strong record against high-ranked opponents this season. Junior first baseman Katie Stewart recently set a program single-season home run record with her 24th homerun at Kentucky on April 26, surpassing last year’s mark held by Reese Atwood. Junior pitcher Teagan Kavan reached another milestone by becoming just the sixth player in program history to achieve over 500 career strikeouts; her total now stands at 530.
The Longhorns have maintained top-10 positions across all four major polls this week and have been featured in the NFCA Coaches poll for seventy-one consecutive weeks. Both Stewart and Kavan were named among the top twenty-five finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award.
Historically, Texas leads Arkansas eight games to one in their previous meetings. This week’s series marks their first encounter since facing off during the Fayetteville Super Regional in 2022.
Head coach Mike White enters this series with a .787 career win percentage—the fourth-highest among active NCAA Division I head coaches—and has guided Texas to six consecutive NCAA Super Regional appearances.
