Texas Softball defeated Baylor, 11-0, in five innings on March 21 at Getterman Stadium in Waco. The win marks the team’s fourth consecutive run-rule victory and extends its program record winning streak to 26 games, which is also the longest active streak in the nation.
The result brings Texas’ overall record to 28-1 (6-0 SEC) and maintains a perfect 7-0 mark on the road. All four recent run-rule wins have come against Power Four opponents, and Texas now has a total of 16 run-rule victories this season. The Longhorns lead the all-time series against Baylor, having won seven straight matchups for a current tally of 44-26.
Junior right-handed pitcher Teagan Kavan delivered her third complete game shutout of the season, striking out ten batters over five innings while allowing only two hits and no walks. Kavan’s performance included two perfect innings and marked her ninth complete game and fifth double-digit strikeout outing this year. The Texas defense supported her effort by playing error-free for the sixth consecutive game.
Offensively, Texas produced eleven runs on nine hits, including five extra-base hits. Nine runs came during a second-inning surge that featured contributions from several players: Kayden Henry went two-for-three with two RBI doubles and a stolen base; Hannah Wells drove in two runs with a double; Ashton Maloney added a two-RBI double; Leighann Goode and Katie Stewart each had RBI singles. Senior pinch hitter Kaydee Bennett capped off the scoring with a two-run inside-the-park home run in the fifth inning.
Looking ahead, Texas will face Texas State in San Marcos on Wednesday, March 25 before returning home for a three-game series against No. 15 Texas A&M at McCombs Field from March 27 to March 29.
