Texas has once again set new records in employment, according to recent data from April. Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state achieved unprecedented numbers in total jobs, the number of Texans working, and the size of its labor force. Over the past year, Texas gained 215,500 nonfarm jobs, surpassing the national growth rate.
“Texas is the undisputed champion for attracting job-creating business investments in the United States,” stated Governor Abbott. He attributed this success to “the Best Business Climate in America and our highly skilled and growing workforce.” Since he took office, more than 2.5 million jobs have been added under his leadership.
The latest figures from the Texas Workforce Commission reveal several milestones:
– The labor force reached a historic high at 15,814,400.
– The number of Texans working hit a record at 15,171,500.
– Total nonfarm jobs climbed to 14,320,100 with an addition of 37,700 jobs in April alone.
Governor Abbott recently declared May 12‒16 as Economic Development Week in Texas. Additionally, Texas was awarded the 2025 Prosperity Cup for leading in job-creating business investments and received recognition as having the best economy nationwide.
In further support of economic growth, Governor Abbott signed three significant pro-growth legislative measures aimed at enhancing Texas’ capital market environment. This event took place at the Texas Capitol with notable attendees including Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Speaker Dustin Burrows among others.
