Governor Greg Abbott has attributed the growth in job creation to the hardworking residents and employers of Texas. According to employment data from March 2025, Texas outperformed all other states in adding jobs over the past year. The state reached unprecedented levels in terms of total jobs, the workforce count, and the overall size of its labor force.

“Texas leads the nation in job creation thanks to our booming economy and highly skilled workforce,” stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized the importance of the state’s welcoming environment for businesses internationally and nationally, along with the increased investments in schools and technical training programs. “By funding our schools more than ever before and expanding career and technical training programs, we will prepare more Texans for better job and bigger paycheck opportunities to build a more prosperous Texas.”

The employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Texas Workforce Commission indicates several milestones:
– Texas’s labor force reached a historical peak at 15,778,500.
– The number of Texans working, including the self-employed, hit a new high at 15,137,500.
– Total nonfarm jobs in Texas reached 14,282,600, following an addition of 26,500 jobs in March alone.
– Over the year from March 2024 to March 2025, Texas added 192,100 nonfarm jobs, surpassing all other states and growing at a faster pace than the national average.

Governor Abbott recently announced over $1.3 million in job training grants allocated to Collin County Community College District. These funds are aimed at customizing workforce training programs across sectors such as healthcare, accounting, and manufacturing, which face high demand. Expanding career training has been a priority for Governor Abbott this legislative session, with House Bill 20 and House Bill 120 progressing from the Texas House of Representatives to enhance career and technical education for students.

In addition, Governor Abbott praised the Texas House for passing House Bill 2, which provides unprecedented funding for public education.
