Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and Chairmen Brandon Creighton and Brad Buckley have acknowledged the passage of Senate Bill 2 in the Texas House of Representatives.
“Today, the Texas House took the final step to advance Senate Bill 2, the largest day-one school choice launch in the nation,” Governor Abbott stated, highlighting this as an “unprecedented victory for families, students, and the future of our great state.”
Lieutenant Governor Patrick described the day as “historic” for Texas students and parents, noting the perseverance required to pass school choice in the Texas House after multiple attempts. He credited President Trump with an influential role in the final steps of the legislation, mentioning a pivotal call to House Republicans that “helped secure a long-awaited victory for Texas parents and students.”
House Speaker Burrows explained that the House had passed the “Texas Two Step” plan to expand educational options and increase funding. He spoke of the House’s success in delivering on Governor Abbott’s initiatives, complimenting the efforts of Chairman Buckley and other officials involved in passing the education reforms.
Chairman Creighton emphasized that “Texas families are one step closer to having the power to choose the best path in education for their kids,” and described Senate Bill 2 as a model policy for the nation.
Chairman Buckley affirmed that “Senate Bill 2 paves the way for every Texas kid to thrive in the educational environment that will serve them best,” focusing on the expanded decision-making tools provided to parents through the bill.
