Governor Greg Abbott has announced a collaborative effort between the Texas Music Office (TMO) and the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture to host a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop. This event will take place on June 10, both virtually and in person.

“Music is key to the Texas brand and to our local economies,” Governor Abbott stated. He expressed gratitude towards the TMO for fostering partnerships that contribute to job creation across Texas. The music industry in Texas supports 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31.7 billion annually in economic activity statewide. Governor Abbott emphasized working with local leaders, such as those in Hallettsville, to equip communities with necessary tools for success.

Gini Mascorro, TMO’s Community Relations and Outreach Specialist, will be present at the workshop. She will provide insights into the Music Friendly Texas Community designation, its benefits, and address any questions from participants.

The Music Friendly Texas program was introduced by TMO in 2016 as the first of its kind nationwide. It aims to foster music industry development within certified communities. The upcoming workshop marks Hallettsville’s initial step towards certification, which would make it one of over 80 cities in Texas with this designation.

The workshop invites musicians, venues, and the general public to participate either online or at the venue.

Details for participation are as follows:

Date: Tuesday, June 10, 2025
Time: 3:00 PM
