Texas Men’s Tennis was named the No. 2 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Championship field, according to an April 27 announcement by the NCAA. The Longhorns will host both First and Second Round matches at the Texas Tennis Center on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2.
This selection marks the fourth consecutive year that Texas has been a top-three seed in the tournament. Last year they were seeded third, second in 2024, and first in 2023. In total, it is their sixth time as a top-four seed over the past seven years; they were also ranked fourth in 2021 and second in 2019. The tournament was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The Longhorns (24-6) are set to play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (17-4) on Friday at 1 p.m., while SMU (ranked No.32) faces Princeton (No.37) earlier that day at 10 a.m. Winners from these matches will compete on Saturday at 4 p.m., with all times listed as Central Time.
This year marks Texas’ thirty-fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Championships and their forty-third overall appearance since bracketed play began in 1977. Over this period, they have compiled an all-time record of eighty-two wins and forty-one losses (.667 winning percentage). Texas is hosting opening rounds for a ninth straight year and for the eleventh time out of twelve tournaments held during that span.
The team previously won the national championship in 2019 and finished as runners-up twice—in both 2008 and last season—and reached semifinals several times including most recently in both of the previous two years.
Admission to all first- and second-round matches at Texas Tennis Center will be free for fans attending this weekend’s events. Paid parking is available nearby at East Campus Garage, with clear bag policies enforced; additional details can be found on TexasSports.com/Clearbag. In case of inclement weather, matches may move indoors to Edgar O. & Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center.
