The Texas men’s tennis team, ranked No. 2, defeated No. 24 Ole Miss with a score of 4-0 on Apr. 2 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center in Oxford. This victory marks the Longhorns’ third straight sweep and their fifth consecutive win overall.
The match is significant as it continues Texas’s strong performance in the season, solidifying their position among the top collegiate teams and extending their winning streak in conference play.
Texas secured the doubles point with victories at positions two and three. The No. 38 pair of Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Ojakaar won their match at No. 3 doubles, while Lucas Marionneau and Sebastian Gorzny, ranked No. 26, clinched at No. 2 doubles. The singles matches saw wins from Ojakaar at No. 3, Eriksson—ranked No. 36—at No. 2, and freshman Marionneau at No. 6 to seal the team victory.
Several matches were left unfinished once Texas reached four points: Kalin Ivanovski was even with Stefano D’Agostino after splitting tiebreakers; Abel Forger led his match against Vlado Jankanj by one game in the third set; Jonah Braswell was ahead in his second set after dropping the first against Noah Schlagenhauf.
Key moments included efficient breaks of serve by Texas pairs during doubles play and decisive performances by Ojakaar and Eriksson in singles competition.
Looking ahead, Texas (19-6 overall, 10-2 SEC) will continue its road trip to face Auburn on Saturday, April 4.
