The Texas Men’s Golf team won the team title at The Ford Collegiate at Ford Field & River Club, defeating No. 1 Auburn by 11 strokes, according to an announcement on April 14. This victory marks the Longhorns’ third championship of the 2025-26 season.
The win is significant as it highlights Texas’s strong performance against a competitive field that included three top-10 and six top-25 teams in the latest Scoreboard powered by Clippd rankings. The Longhorns finished with a program-record total of 43-under-par 797 over three rounds, surpassing their previous best set earlier this year.
During Tuesday’s final round, senior Christiaan Maas led the way for Texas with a score of six-under-par 64, tying his career-low for an individual round. Maas finished as runner-up after losing in a playoff to Auburn’s Jackson Koivun; both players ended regulation play tied at thirteen-under-par for the tournament. Graduate Matt Comegys tied for third individually with an eleven-under total, while senior Luke Potter placed fifth at nine under par.
All five Longhorns who contributed to the team score placed in the top fifteen individually: Comegys tied for third, Potter was fifth, Tommy Morrison tied for twelfth, and Daniel Bennett tied for fifteenth. Sophomore Eduardo Derbez Torres competed as an individual and finished sixty-fifth overall.
This event concluded Texas’s regular season schedule. The team will next compete in postseason play at the SEC Championship on Saint Simons Island beginning April 22 with stroke-play rounds followed by match-play competition among the top eight teams.
