University of Texas women’s basketball head coach Vic Schaefer announced on Apr. 15 the signing of Isi Etute, a forward from Dudelange, Luxembourg, to the program’s 2026 recruiting class.

Etute is ranked No. 24 in the 2026 class by ESPN and has experience playing both in the United States and internationally. She played high school basketball at IMG Academy in Florida and has represented Luxembourg at youth and senior levels since age 16. In her international career, she averaged notable statistics such as 18.7 points and 13.4 rebounds per game with Luxembourg’s youth national team in 2024.

At IMG Academy, Etute posted averages of 17.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, along with contributions in assists and steals while shooting over fifty percent from the field. Her performances include scoring 27 points with 19 rebounds during a single game at the FIBA Eurobasket qualifiers in 2026.

“We are excited and fired up to welcome Isi Etute to our women’s basketball program here at The University of Texas,” Texas head coach Vic Schaefer said. “She brings so much to the table with her competitive spirit, toughness, and physicality, and she is a high-character young woman who is truly excited to be a Longhorn… With her addition, this group has a chance to be one of the most impactful freshman classes in the history of The University of Texas.”

Etute cited both competition level and coaching style as reasons for choosing Texas: “I chose Texas because I see myself competing at an elite level and I want to be challenged in a highly competitive program,” Etute said. “Most of all I have a lot of respect for Coach Vic Schaefer… I truly believe he will bring out the best in me as a player.” She plans to major in Biology at UT Austin and speaks four languages.

With Etute joining Addison Bjorn (ranked No.10), Brihanna Crittendon (No.12), Aaliyah Spaight (No.15), and Amalia Holguin (No.47), this marks four top-25 recruits for Texas’ incoming class.
