The Texas Longhorns will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a three-game series beginning May 1 at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, according to an April 30 announcement. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Broadcast coverage will be available on SEC Network+ for the first two games and ESPN for the final game.

This matchup brings together two top-ranked teams, with Texas currently ranked No. 4 and Mississippi State ranked No. 10 nationally. The series marks the first time since 1983 that these teams have played each other in Austin. Texas leads the all-time series with a record of nine wins and seven losses against Mississippi State.

Probable pitching matchups feature Mississippi State’s Tomas Valincius (7-1, 2.13 ERA) against Texas’ Dylan Volantis (6-0, 2.06 ERA) on Friday; Duke Stone (4-2, 4.64 ERA) versus Ruger Riojas (5-2, 3.88 ERA) on Saturday; and Charlie Foster (0-2, 5.67 ERA) facing Luke Harrison (4-2, 3.93 ERA) on Sunday.

As of April 30, Texas holds the No. 3 RPI ranking and is third in conference standings behind Georgia by one-and-a-half games with three weeks left in Southeastern Conference play. The Longhorns have achieved eleven Quad 1 wins this season and maintain a scoring margin of +4.1 runs per game—the sixth best among Division I programs.

Since head coach Jim Schlossnagle took over in his first SEC campaign in 2022, he has won more conference series than any other coach during that period—35 total—leading last year’s team to win the SEC title as newcomers to the league.

Attendance figures remain strong for home games at UFCU Disch-Falk Field since its opening in 1975; this season saw an average of over seven thousand fans per game with notable crowds during rivalry matchups such as against Oklahoma.

The Longhorns continue their tradition of honoring former players throughout select Saturdays this season as part of their traDISCHion series.
