The Texas Longhorns baseball team will face Incarnate Word at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on April 7, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The game will be available for viewing on SEC Network+ and can be heard on radio station 103.1 FM.

This matchup marks the ninth meeting between Texas and Incarnate Word in the past six years. The Longhorns have an impressive record against the Cardinals, winning eleven of their twelve all-time meetings, including nine consecutive victories.

The Longhorns are off to a strong start this season with a 26-5 record, making them one of only three Texas teams in the last twenty-one years to begin with such success. Last year, they finished with a 44-14 record and secured the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. Their pitching staff currently holds the fourth-best earned run average (ERA) nationally at 2.93 and ranks seventh in walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) at 1.15.

Texas is currently ranked second by several major polls including Baseball America, D1Baseball, NCBWA, and USA Today, while Perfect Game places them third nationally. In Southeastern Conference play so far this season, they are second behind Georgia by one game after four weekends of league action.

Under head coach Jim Schlossnagle since 2020, Texas has been particularly effective in midweek games with a combined record of fifty-seven wins and twelve losses over that span—winning twenty-nine out of their last thirty-four such contests.

Home field advantage has played a significant role for Texas since UFCU Disch-Falk Field opened in 1975; they have posted a .796 winning percentage there and averaged over seven thousand fans per home game this season—the fifth-highest attendance mark nationwide.
