Emma von Hoffmann and Tommy Morrison have been named as February’s Hook ‘Em’s Community Heroes, an initiative supported by Truist. Von Hoffmann, who plays for the Texas Longhorns Women’s Golf team, has focused her efforts on raising awareness of childhood cancer and supporting cancer research nationwide.
“Children facing cancer show a level of resilience in unimaginable challenges. Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and live a full life. Supporting pediatric cancer research helps create better outcomes for children and their family’s futures,” said von Hoffmann.
Tommy Morrison, from the Men’s Golf team, spoke about how golf has influenced his life and his commitment to helping children access similar opportunities. “Golf has been such a huge part of my life, and I want to continue to give back to the sport. In addition, over the past few years Austin has been such a huge part of my life and I would like to make a donation to an organization that helps support both those things – golf and the Austin community,” Morrison said.
Truist is donating $500 each to organizations dedicated to children’s cancer research and youth golf programs in recognition of these student-athletes’ causes. More details about Hook ‘Em’s Community Heroes are available at texaslonghorns.com/feature/TruistCares.
