The Texas Longhorns baseball team is set to play a three-game series against Vanderbilt at Hawkins Field from April 24 to 26. The matchups are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at noon, with coverage available on SEC Network+, SEC Network, ESPN2, and radio broadcast on 103.1 FM.
This meeting marks the first-ever series between Texas and Vanderbilt at Hawkins Field since it opened in 2002. Although the teams have played each other in Nashville before, previous encounters were not held at this venue. Historically, the two programs have faced off sixteen times since their first game in May of 1900, with Vanderbilt currently holding a slight edge in the all-time series.
Texas enters the weekend ranked No. 4 nationally by several polls and holds a No. 3 RPI as of April 23. The Longhorns have achieved eleven Quad 1 wins this season and possess one of Division I Baseball’s top scoring margins with an average run differential of +4.4 per game. Their pitching staff leads the nation in opponent batting average (.212) and FIP (2.88), while also ranking highly in WHIP (1.16) and ERA (3.41). Offensively, Texas has posted a .937 OPS, placing them nineteenth nationally.
Under head coach Jim Schlossnagle since joining the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in 2022, Texas has recorded more conference series wins than any other program during that span—34 total—surpassing coaches such as Dan Van Horn and Kevin O’Sullivan. Last season under Schlossnagle’s leadership, Texas became the first team to win the SEC title during its inaugural year since the league began competition in 1933.
Most recently, Texas secured its fifth SEC series win out of six weeks by taking two out of three games against No.11 Alabama while setting a program record for strikeouts over a three-game set with forty-nine total punchouts.
