Details for Texas Football home games versus Texas State and UTSA were released by the Southeastern Conference on May 27. The season opener against Texas State, presented by UFCU, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on ESPN at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. The contest against UTSA, presented by Ford, is set for Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Central Time on SEC Network+, also at the same stadium.
The league had previously announced that the home game versus Ohio State would kick off at 6:30 p.m. Central Time on Saturday, Sept. 12 on ABC. Additionally, the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown matchup at Texas A&M is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m., also airing on ABC.
Texas and Texas State have met only once before in 1930 when Texas State was known as Southwest Texas State Teachers College; Texas won that game in Austin with a score of 36-0. The upcoming meeting with UTSA will be the third between the two teams—all played in Austin—with previous results including a Longhorns victory of 41-20 in 2022 and another win of 56-7 in 2024.
The Longhorns are entering their sixth year under head coach Steve Sarkisian and have recorded a combined record of 35-8 over the last three seasons with three consecutive campaigns featuring ten or more wins—the first such streak since between 2007 and 2009. During this period, they secured a Cheez-It Citrus Bowl Championship last year, reached back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinals in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, made an appearance in the SEC Championship Game in 2024, and won a Big Twelve Championship title in the previous year.
Game times and network designations for remaining games will be announced later.
