No. 6 Texas Beach Volleyball earned two victories against ranked opponents on March 29, closing out the Texas Invitational at Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex. The Longhorns defeated No. 3 USC and No. 10 Long Beach State, improving their overall record to 16-6 and marking three Top-10 wins during the two-day tournament.
The results highlight a strong performance for Texas, which also recorded its first-ever win over the nation’s top-ranked team during this event. These achievements reflect the team’s competitiveness in matches against some of the best programs in collegiate beach volleyball.
In their match against Long Beach State, Texas won by a score of 4-1. After splitting the opening matches, Brecht Piersma and Katie Hashman clinched victory on Court 1 with a straight-set win over Ashley Pater and Kennedy Coakley (21-17, 21-18). Other notable victories came from Anna Pavelkova and Kacka Pavelkova as well as Emma Grace Robertson and Lily Davis.
Against USC, Savannah Thomas and Macey Butler secured an early point for Texas on Court 5 before Robertson and Davis added another win on Court 3. Piersma and Hashman again sealed the overall match with a straight-set victory (21-17, 21-19) on Court 1.
The Longhorns will next host No. 18 Washington, Houston Christian, and Tulane at the upcoming Longhorn Showdown scheduled for April 3–4 at Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex.
These recent performances continue to establish Texas as a strong contender in collegiate beach volleyball.
