Texas secured a 5-4 walk-off victory over Oklahoma on March 28, sweeping the three-game series at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns clinched the win in the bottom of the tenth inning when Casey Borba singled up the middle to bring home Adrian Rodriguez.
The sweep marks Texas’ first series sweep over Oklahoma since 2014. The Longhorns, now holding a record of 23-4 overall and 7-2 in Southeastern Conference play, overcame a three-run deficit by scoring in three of the last four innings. This game represented their fifth comeback win this season.
During Saturday’s matchup, Carson Tinney hit his seventh home run of the year with a two-run shot that put Texas on the scoreboard after Oklahoma had taken an early lead. Ethan Mendoza added an RBI single to close the gap further, while Rodriguez tied it up with a groundout in the eighth inning before Borba’s decisive hit ended it in extras.
On the pitching side, Brett Crossland delivered his longest outing yet with more than two innings pitched and four strikeouts. Haiden Leffew closed out the game by retiring all six batters he faced and striking out three.
Attendance for this high-profile series was notable as well; Texas welcomed over 23,000 fans across three games—one of its largest crowds ever for such a set—and Saturday’s attendance alone was among its highest for a regular season contest at Disch-Falk Field.
Before Saturday’s finale, Texas held its second traDISCHions day event of this season and honored former pitcher Adrian Alaniz. Alaniz helped lead Texas to its national championship in 2005 and threw a no-hitter against Oklahoma that same year before being drafted by Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals.
Looking ahead, Texas will conclude its homestand with a game against Texas State on Tuesday evening.
