Senator Ted Cruz, representing Texas in the U.S. Senate, shared a series of posts on his social media account reflecting on past events and commenting on constitutional interpretation and foreign policy.

On March 10, 2026, Cruz recounted a personal moment from 2013: “My daughters were 3 and 5 when I filibustered Obamacare in 2013. Before their bedtimes, I wanted to read them a story from the Senate floor while they watched on TV — I settled on Green Eggs and Ham.”

Later that day, he addressed the interpretation of birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment: “The view that the Fourteenth Amendment confers citizenship to literally anyone born on U.S. soil is a recent view, and one contrary to the views at the time the amendment was written and ratified.”

On March 11, Cruz commented on U.S.-Iran relations: “There was no more room for diplomacy with Iran. The Iranians were lying and stalling to accelerate their nuclear program.”

Senator Cruz has held his seat since winning election in 2012 against Paul Sadler with 56.5% of the vote. He secured re-election in subsequent contests against Beto O’Rourke in 2018 with 50.9% of the vote and Colin Allred in 2024 with 53.1%.
