U.S. Senator Todd Young, who chairs the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Freight, Pipelines, and Safety, has announced a subcommittee hearing scheduled for July 22, 2025. The hearing will focus on issues affecting the trucking and commercial bus industries in the United States. It aims to address safety improvements, regulatory challenges, and long-term sustainability of these sectors.
Senator Young emphasized the importance of these industries to Indiana’s economy and their role in maintaining supply chains. “The trucking and motorcoach industries are essential to Indiana’s economy and support thousands of Hoosier jobs,” he stated.
Senator Cruz also highlighted the economic significance of these industries: “America’s trucking and motorcoach industries are more than just transportation. They are the lifeblood of our economy.”
The hearing will include testimonies from key industry figures such as Chris Spear from the American Trucking Associations and Lewie Pugh from the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.
