The Austin Economic Development Department has launched two grant programs to help sustain small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Austin Small Business Relief Grant distributes $16.5 million in funds to small businesses around Austin. The programs will provide up to $40,000 to businesses within the Austin city limits. The second program, the Austin Non-Profit Relief Grant, distributes $6.35 million in funds. This grant will provide grants of up to $20,000 to Austin nonprofit organizations.

Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, the acting director for the City of Austin Economic Development Department, said these grants will help small businesses stay afloat.

“Austin’s nonprofit organizations and small, local businesses play a vital role building healthy and vibrant communities across our city,” Holt-Rabb said. “As directed by Austin City Council, these grants will help strengthen small, local businesses and organizations so they can continue to provide crucial services, retain employees, complete health and safety improvements, and remain open and operational.”
