Senator Ted Cruz, U.S. Senator from Texas, recently shared several updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account regarding legislative actions and national security matters.
On July 18, 2025, Cruz referenced a statement published by The Daily Signal about honoring the memory of Jocelyn. He said, “.@DailySignal: ‘We have a duty to honor [Jocelyn’s] memory, and to bear witness alongside her family. I applaud my colleagues in the House for passing this,’ Cruz said.”
Later that day, Cruz expressed support for recent efforts by President Trump and Secretary Rubio related to Americans detained abroad. He posted on July 18, 2025: “I applaud President Trump and @SecRubio on this major victory.
Last month, I co-led a letter with @SenBrianSchatz and 16 other Senators urging @SecRubio to continue efforts to bring home wrongfully detained Americans, including Texans, held in Venezuela.
I’m glad to see these”.
On July 21, 2025, Cruz discussed federal funding for the Coast Guard during an appearance on KIII-TV News. He stated: “CRUZ on @kiii3news: ‘We have funded $24 billion dollars to make the largest investment in the Coast Guard in the history of our country.’”
These comments come amid ongoing congressional attention toward supporting military branches like the Coast Guard and advocating for Americans detained overseas. Congressional action has focused both on increasing resources for maritime security and responding diplomatically when U.S. citizens are held abroad.
