Senator Ted Cruz, a prominent figure in the U.S. Senate, has been vocal about his long-standing advocacy for school choice as a significant civil rights issue. His recent tweets highlight the passage of what he terms the largest federal school choice program in history.
On July 2, 2025, Senator Cruz tweeted that “School choice is the civil rights issue of the 21st century.” He expressed optimism about President Trump’s anticipated signing of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which he claims will ensure every child in America has access to school choice.
Later that day, on July 2, Cruz reiterated his commitment to this cause by stating, “For over 13 years, I have led the fight for school choice in the U.S. Senate.” He celebrated the passage of what he described as a historic federal program within the same bill and urged for its delivery to President Trump’s desk.
On July 3, Cruz shared a tweet from CatholicVote that acknowledged his efforts: “.@CatholicVote: ‘The provision, spearheaded by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas […] marks the largest federal school choice program ever approved by Congress.’
