In a recent Senate Commerce Committee hearing, Senator Ted Cruz emphasized the need for modernization within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to address ongoing challenges in aviation safety and air traffic management. The hearing, titled “FAA Reauthorization One Year Later: Aviation Safety, Air Traffic, and Next Generation Technology,” marked nearly a year since the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 was enacted.
Senator Cruz highlighted the FAA’s struggles with adopting advanced technology and hiring sufficient air traffic controllers as symptoms of its bureaucratic structure. Cruz also mentioned his role in establishing a new Center for Advanced Aviation Technologies in Dallas-Fort Worth under Texas A&M System leadership.
