Senate committee to hold nominations hearing for Department of Commerce positions

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will lead a nominations hearing for the Department of Commerce nominees. The hearing is scheduled for 10:00 AM EST on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

The nominees include Dr. Neil Jacobs from North Carolina for the position of Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere (NOAA Administrator), Mr. Taylor Jordan from the District of Columbia as an Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction (NOAA), and Mr. Harry Kumar from New York as an Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs.

The full committee nomination hearing will take place in the Committee Hearing Room, Russell 253. It will be available to watch via livestream on the Committee’s website and YouTube channel.
