Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation approved eight bills and four nominations. The nominations pertain to positions within the Federal Railroad Administration, Amtrak Board of Directors, and the Department of Commerce. Additionally, the committee voted to promote over 250 Coast Guardsmen.
During the Executive Session, several nominations were confirmed with votes as follows: David Fink for Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration received 15 Yeas and 13 Nays; David Fogel for Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the United States and Foreign Commercial Service also received 15 Yeas and 13 Nays; Robert Gleason for Director of the Amtrak Board of Directors was approved with 16 Yeas and 12 Nays; Pierre Gentin for General Counsel of the Department of Commerce garnered 15 Yeas and 13 Nays.
The following bills were passed by voice vote: S. 190 (North Pacific Research Board Enhancement Act), S. 318 (ANCHOR Act), S. 337 (Household Goods Shipping Consumer Protection Act), S. 503 (NET Act), S. 1092 (WIPPES Act), S. 1442 (Combating Trafficking in Transportation Act), S. 1523 (Water Research Optimization Act of 2025), and S. 1626 (National Landslide Preparedness Act Reauthorization Act of 2025).
The approved legislation covers a range of issues under the committee’s jurisdiction including scientific research, transportation, telecommunications, consumer protection, weather forecasting, and disaster preparedness.
